(MV Frances Barkley) A long-running Vancouver Island ferry service is bringing back Sunday sailings this August, nearly one year since the service was saved from sudden closure. In August 2021, Lady Rose Marine Services was set to make its very last sailing, after 75 years in business, following difficulties the company faced due to COVID-19.

The Frances Barkley is an older ship but is well maintained. The seats are very hard for a long trip, and the bathrooms are smelly. They need to clean them better and put some air fresheners in there. There is a small galley selling food. Sechert Lodge is nice and the manager (lady) is very friendly, but it is not luxury accommodation.
